Adiabatic methods for air humidification

Air humidification with an ultrasonic system

Ultrasonic nebulisers have a tank with piezoelectric transducers in the bottom. The surface of the transducer vibrates at the highest frequency (1.65 million times per second). The resulting cavitation (formation of cavities in the water) leads to the atomisation of the fine aerosols on the surface or is introduced directly into the room to be humidified. In the process, the air is humidified and cooled at the same time, as the energy required for evaporation is extracted from the surrounding air in the form of heat.

Typical for ultrasonic humidification

  • Preferred for low humidification requirements
  • Often planned as direct room humidification
  • Use of a cooling effect possible
  • Operation with demineralised water
  • Humidification capacities from 0.5 to 18 kg/h per unit

Centrifugal atomisation

In the centrifugal atomiser, the water is directed onto a rotating disc. The centrifugal forces throw the water onto an impact grid, where it is atomised into tiny particles (aerosols). These particles are then blown out into the room by an air stream generated by the fan and are absorbed by the air in the room through evaporation. In the process, the room air is humidified and cooled at the same time, since the energy required for evaporation is extracted from it in the form of heat. For optimal and even humidification of the room, the atomising humidifier should be mounted as high up as possible.

Typical for centrifugal humidification

  • Exclusively as direct room humidification
  • Additional cooling effect
  • Operation possible with all water qualities - without water loss
  • Humidification capacities from 2 to 8 kg/h per unit

Atomisation by spray nozzles

With the spray nozzle atomiser, the water is pressed through fine nozzles by a pump with increased pressure. The resulting fine aerosol mist evaporates in the air flow of the ventilation duct. In the process, the air is humidified and cooled at the same time. The energy required for evaporation is extracted from the air in the form of heat.

Typical for spray nozzle atomisation

  • Universal humidification in comfort and process areas
  • Operation with demineralised water
  • Particularly useful for high humidification and/or cooling requirements
  • Combination of supply air humidification and exhaust air cooling possible with one pump
  • VDI 6022 - certified hygiene without chemicals
  • Humidification capacities from 45 to 600 kg/h per unit
